The moral side of Mr South Africa

PINESLOPES - Mr South Africa contender Krüger Swart is determined to make a positive impact on the world around him by living as a "gentleman of complete integrity".

“The strength of a value can only be measured or seen when shared with others. It is like music and art – value is embedded in the collective joy it generates for all,” mused Swart, Pineslopes resident and Top 25 contender for the 2014 Mr South Africa title.

Swart described himself as success-driven, positive, and humble. Having been raised in a disciplined Christian environment, he said he was eager to lead by example, passing on his strong moral principles to South African youth. Once a bass guitarist for a band in his hometown of Potchefstroom, Swart compared the impact of one individual on another, to the effect of music.

“Your impression on people is like the melody of a song that lingers in your mind long after you listened to it,” he said.

According to Swart, modelling followed him after he won Mr Teen Potchefstroom in 2009, followed by Mr Junior Africa in 2011. Now hoping to be South Africa’s next ‘perfect aspirational man’, Swart welcomes the opportunity to share his life philosophies.

“I am grateful to be healthy and to be able to participate in events where I can express my goals in life and share it with others. I don’t take things for granted and believe a positive attitude creates a positive outlook on life and mind.”

Swart is involved in a number of charitable initiatives, and believes that rural communities, old age homes and animal welfare organisations are most in need of help. While food, clothing and shelter are minimum material necessities, he believes spiritual elements of togetherness, individuality and a strong sense of being rank high in South Africa’s needs.

On an everyday basis, meanwhile, Swart seeks to live according to values of confidence, compassion, integrity and a positive attitude.

“I measure myself against these values because…[that] results in people having respect and then they are more open to believe, accept and work together towards a better future,” he added.
