Grade 8 and 9 pupils of Fourways High participated in the exhibition which took place at the Edleen Primary School in Kempton Park. According to teacher, John Moodley, after a long session of six hours at the exhibition which included taking questions from judges and visitors, Fourways High was announced as the winner in two categories and received a special mention in a third category.
UFO project, which was an amusement park ride, made by pupils Shania Richardson, Jordan Scott and Daniella Asher placed first in the structures category for Grade 8. The Carousal, which exhibited gears and linkages, also made by Richardson and Scott as well as Euan Meyers and Sebastian Casal-Galego placed first in the mechanical systems category for Grade 8. The Hydraulic, which was a mechanical arm, made by Trevor Gates received a special mention for Grade 9. The pupils’ portfolios of their projects will be circulated to all the high schools in Gauteng.
