Diepsloot’s got talent

DIEPSLOOT - Talented Diepsloot youths acted, danced and sang their hearts out at Tsogo Sun Arts Academy's Annual Community Showcase.

The Tsogo Sun Arts Academy aims to make a difference in the lives of pupils from disadvantaged areas, like Diepsloot, by inspiring them to become capable, able, educated and responsible citizens by using creative arts as a catalyst.

The arts programme is currently being run in 12 schools across Johannesburg and reaches 480 pupils twice a week at each school.

Six facilitating professionals provide life-skills development to the pupils using disciplines like dance, theatre, music, creative arts and literature. Every year the arts academy holds a community showcase in both Diepsloot and Mayfair, making it possible for the community to witness the hard work the pupils put in during the year.

At the Diepsloot community showcase, which was held at Diepsloot Methodist Church, pupils donned fabulous costumes and exuded confidence as they took to the stage to entertain their mentors, tutors, families and friends.
