Soldierboy fighters ready to rumble

FOURWAYS - Two fighters signed up with Fourways-based mixed martial arts management agency, Soldierboy will compete in the second EFC Worldwide event.

Igeu ‘Smiley’ Kabesa and Martin ‘The Punisher’ van Staden will make their way to Durban on 4 April to compete at the event. Kabesa is on a 4-0 winning streak and will face Durban native, Saxon ‘One Minute Monster’ Delafield.

Van Staden made an incredible comeback against Jeremy ‘Pitbull’ Smith which won him the accolade of ‘knockout of the night’ at EFC Africa 33 last year. He is now ready to get one step closer to his dream of winning the welterweight title, something that has eluded him in the past. His opponent will be Irish national, Peter Quelley who debuted for EFC Worldwide at EFC36 in Cape Town beating Angolan-born Francois Kabulu by unanimous decision after three rounds

Kabesa and Van Staden train out of Fight Fit Militia gym in Sunninghill.

Another athlete representing Joburg is the current featherweight champion Boyd Allen. Allen will defend his title against Wesley ‘The Young Assassin’ Hawkey in the main event. The two last met at EFC 23 where Allen was the victor, so their upcoming encounter has been labelled the grudge match of the year.
