Taekwon-Do Centre goes for gold
SUNNINGHILL - The Taekwon-Do Centre martial arts school was a big winner at the Taekwon-Do South Africa Elite Tournament.
The tournament took place at Mandeville Sports Centre in Kensington and aimed to unite the invited clubs and federations in a friendly competition.
Taekwon-Do Centre instructors, Jenine and Kyle Hutchinson, fourth degree and third degree black belts, attended the competition with 22 of their pupils.
The Dojang won 42 medals in total which included 22 gold, 14 silver and six bronze.
Pupils competed in patterns, sparring, special techniques and power breaking.
Taekwon-Do Centre pupil Yashneil Govender also competed in the tournament despite being just five years old and won a gold medal for the Taekwon-Do tiger obstacle course.
Cole Tideswell (28) also did extremely well at the tournament winning a gold medal for each of the four categories.
