Abland scraps plans for 14-storey apartment block

MAGALIESSIG – Property developer, Abland recently confirmed that proposed plans for a double volume apartment block standing at 10 to 14 storeys high in Monte Place will not be built. This following an agreement at a public participation meeting on 8 December.

Mary Hanna, chairperson of the Magaliessig Action Forum (Maf) said, “New plans will be drawn up showing residential accommodation of no more than five or six storeys high.” Hanna explained that these plans would be presented for discussion prior to the second public participation meeting which is scheduled to take place on 4 February.

Hanna was clear to explain that the ‘proposed’ plans were not to be confused with the Monte Circle Project (on the William Nicol Drive end of Montecasino Boulevard) currently under construction.

“The agreement brokered between Maf, the affected residents and Abland for two storey office blocks adjacent to the residential boundary still stands,” she said.

The residential blocks will form part of the mixed-use development in Monte Place near City Lodge.
