A war against litter

Douglasdale Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson, Jean Berdou, who is a founding member of FCF said, “FCF wishes to challenge residents to change [their] behaviour that results in littering in the precinct.”

Berdou urged the community to:

•  Stop throwing litter out of vehicles and rather place it in appropriate receptacles.
•  Stop leaving rubbish on pavements and public areas.
•  Help FCF to help the community by picking up any refuse seen while jogging or walking.
•  Report all dumping, littering and other environmental violations by taking photos and details of the violation and reporting it to the city council, and also copy in the FCF so that they can monitor action.

“We all want a cleaner and safer environment and can have this if we all work together as a community. We challenge everyone to work with us in 2016 to make the greater Fourways precinct even better,” Berdou said.

FCF is in discussions with other relevant parties to expand on the operation and is hopeful that many others will join this journey of transforming Fourways.
