A day of fun in the sun for Bryandale Pre-Primary

BRYANSTON – The Bryandale Pre-Primary School annual fundraiser attracted an estimated 2 500 visitors on 21 April, in the hope to raise funds for the school.

On 21 April, Bryandale Pre-Primary School hosted its Fun Day on the school grounds.

The event takes place annually and aims to raise funds to maintain and improve the school’s campus.

“Before, the parents would organise the day, but this year and last year we wanted to try something different, and so we invited local businesses to set up stalls for the day,” explained the organiser and Grade R teacher for the school, Lauren Matthewson-Woolard.

“We wanted the day to be a good time that people got to spend with family. We want people to talk to each other and for parents to have fun with their children that was safe.”

An estimated 2 500 people attended the event, which was hosted on the school’s sports field, and there were about 100 stalls selling food, drinks, toys and crafts. Inflatable slides and other games were also set up, adding a carnival-feel to the event.

A stage was erected for live performances, including a show from the Dancemore studio in Fourways and a group of Bryandale Primary School children who showed off their marimba skills for the crowd.

“Seeing this come together has been wonderful,” said Maria Lourenco, who is part of the parents’ organisation who helped on the day.

“But I think next year we’ll have to go even bigger.”

It is hoped that at least R150 000 would be raised through the event, which would be channelled back into the school.
