The directors at Arion Communications reminded two girls that they have the power to write their own future.
Sisters Danielle (14) and Danika (12) Olivier were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, immune dysregulation making them susceptible to severe infections, as well as lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis. Having a strong focus on goodwill causes, Aimee Serrao and Candace Bosch, the directors of Arion Communications, felt compelled to give the girls something that could make them smile.
Arion Communications is a writing and editing company, so the pair felt it would be ideal giving the girls personalised Parker pens that they could use every day to write down their hopes and dreams and everything in-between.

The company learned about the sister’s struggles through the BackaBuddy website and decided to give a special gift to them as they and their family had been through so much.
The girls received their personalised pens on 15 July.
“With these pens, we hope that the girls will write down their thoughts, feelings, hopes, and dreams and then go out and make these dreams a reality,” said Serrao.
“As the years go by, we hope that they will look back at what they have written, what they have been through, and how far they have come, and we pray it makes them smile,” said Bosch.
The Arion Communications team were able to see the girls’ reaction to receiving their gifts, as their mother Chantelle Olivier sent photos and a video of them receiving the pens.
“My dream is to [do] genetic engineering or become an immunologist,” Danielle said. “I think I need a good pen to write all these dreams. I asked my doctor what pen he writes with and he said only Parker pens. So my first dream was to get a Parker so I can become a brilliant doctor.”
Younger sister Danika also has big dreams for her future.
“I want to be an artist,” she said.
“It is very important to make my mark. My Parker pen means I can look important because my pen has my name on it.”
