Speakers hail Eunice Moloko for love, passion and dedication to her job
SUNNINGHILL– Molatedi said Moloko always made people around her feel loved and welcome.
Gauteng Regional Commissioner at the Department of Correctional Services, Grace Molatedi, described the late Leeuwkop prison warden officer Eunice Moloko as a passionate civil servant who served her country with love and dedication.
Moloko’s body was found in the female toilets of the Covid-19 isolation ward at Leeuwkop Correctional Centre on August 10. She was allegedly murdered by a 30-year-old male convict.

Speaking during a memorial service held on August 18 at the Leeuwkop rugby field, Molatedi said Moloko always made people around her feel loved and welcome.
“Our country has lost a woman who was dedicated to serving her nation without complaining. Eunice Moloko died serving the country during the most challenging time of the Covid-19 pandemic. She was the kind of person who always put others first and always willing to help those in need at work and in the community. She was an epitome of love, warmth and dedication,” said Molatedi.
She urged Leeuwkop Correctional Services Centre staff members to keep Moloko’s legacy alive by serving the nation with pride and dedication.

Spokesperson for the Moloko family, Peter Maruping, said the family had full trust in the justice system of the country and they were hoping that the perpetrator would be penalised for his actions.
“Eunice was a fearless woman who feared nothing. She confronted intimidating life-threatening situations with boldness. The best way to honour her will be to live our lives and do our jobs without fear. As a family, we have full confidence in our justice system that it will do its job,” Maruping said on behalf of the family.
The case of the accused was postponed to August 26 after he briefly appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on August 18.
Moloko was laid to rest on August 21 in Centurion cemetery.
