20 caught for various crimes over long weekend

DOUGLASDALE – Suspects were arrested following operations over the long weekend for a number of crimes.


Douglasdale police arrested 20 suspects between October 29 and November 1.

According to spokesperson Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, the suspects were arrested for various crimes.

“The crimes ranged from possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, contravention of firearm control act, possession of drugs, assault with an intention to cause grievous bodily harm, assault common, theft, shoplifting, bilking, public drinking and assault common,” she said.

All the suspects were to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.

Police are appealing to community members to keep reporting all criminal activities in their areas by phoning police on 011 699 1300 or on 08600 10111.
