Male suspect appears in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court for being in possession of suspected hijacked motor

Members of the Pretoria K9 unit arrested a 35-year-old man for being in possession of a suspected hijacked motor vehicle on November 10 in Diepsloot Ext 2.

Diepsloot Police Station spokesperson Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said, “Members of K9 Unit were on patrol duty when they received a complaint of housebreaking in progress in Eldoraigne, Centurion. On their way to the scene, a vehicle matching the description given to them was spotted with three suspects inside.”

He said the police attempted to stop the vehicle but the suspects sped off towards Diepsloot and a high-speed chase ensued along the N14.

He added the suspects took the off-ramp to Diepsloot Ext 2 and soon after one of the vehicle’s tyres got a puncture. The suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled. Members of the community assisted the police by pointing out where one suspect was hiding and he was arrested. The other two suspects were still at large.

Police discovered that the vehicle had been reported hijacked at Parkview Police Station in August this year.
“The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of a hijacked motor vehicle. He briefly appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Friday 12 November 2021 and was remanded in custody.”
