Sunninghill hair care company calls upon local up-and-coming artists for proudly South African campaign
Fourways High School artists were the creative force behind Biosense South Africa’s new packaging for their campaign called Back to your Roots.
A local hair care line has launched a new line of products in which Fourways artists were sourced to design the packaging.

Biosense South Africa, whose offices are based in Sunninghill, partnered with local youth artists and a singer in the launch of their campaign, Back to your Roots. The campaign featured artists’ work, be it young painters or singers to partner with the campaign to give more exposure to the artists and back to the community.
Lindzey Turton, brand manager for Biosense South Africa, said this campaign is one of the many the company does in order to give back to the community.
“We feel that we are very proud to help people because we are proudly South African,” she said.

“We are trying to make these artists famous. They are going to be something in their school and community. We want to frame the actual art pieces and auction it off. Whatever we get from the auction will go towards their college funding.”
The artists hail from Fourways High School and are in the same Grade 11 art class. Artists Skye Mackinnon, Paballo Mojahi and Saraswati Saijal Pathe felt immense pride in their work being used for the campaign.

Anonymous artist Venturous Skull was also included in the project and took on the Bo-Kaap Houses in the Western Cape. They adapted the rainbow nation, the baobab tree and Johannesburg skyline respectively for the packaging of the hair care product.
The hair care organisation had also collaborated with local singer Gabrielle De Gama as they have encouraged users of the product to use her latest single, Superwoman in any of their videos online to win a free holiday hamper.

“Most of the pieces are on famous cities or something that is purely South African. Biosense had posts on their socials saying they were looking for up-and-coming artists. I had seen the post and told the class about it and then we entered,” said Fourways High learner Skye.
Turton said there are more projects on the horizon for Biosense South Africa that will aid the community.
