29 years as a Rotarian

The Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club bids farewell to a Rotarian after 29 years of service.

The Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club bids farewell to a Rotarian of 29 years. Christopher Thompson has been described as an exceptional leader, fundraiser, and organiser by his fellow colleagues.

Christopher Thompson is a man with a permanent smile, a man being honoured for his hard work and dedication.

“He joined Rotary in 1994 and has served for 29 years while making a huge difference to hundreds of lives in different communities. He started off his Rotary life in Cape Town, at the Blouberg Rotary Club where he soon became deputy president, then president. He later moved to Johannesburg where he joined the Randburg Rotary Club and served as president, as he then moved to the Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club,” said Stephen Margo, public relations and membership officer.

Former district governor Ann Margaret Grant, Iyere Ebhodagne Nurydeen, Rotarian Christopher Thompson, Jobst Schulte Brader and David Grant.

The Main Reef Rotary decided to honour Thompson by bestowing an ‘Honorary Rotarian’ status upon him as a way of thanking him for his tremendous contribution to the Rotary.

“He organised food distribution to needy families, organised and managed about seven soccer teams, and also started a vegetable garden at the school among other projects he managed. He was never shy to roll up his sleeves to work or give advice when needed, he will be missed and we hope he didn’t raise the bar too high,” Margo added.
