Matt hopes to hip hop to the top

Matt Fitt is determined to take over the entertainment industry.

From the age of eight years old to 18, Matt Fitt has been a dancer. His dream is make a name for himself in the entertainment industry. The hip-hop dancer won the Male Dancer of the Year award in 2021. He was encouraged by a family friend to join dance classes, he realised that he also loved music which he began making in 2022, even though he always played the guitar.

Being a title holder came with its challenges for Fitt. “I lost my title at the South African Colours due to an injury. It took a while to accept that it’s gone but I appreciated the opportunity of having the award,” he said. The youngster practises with The Academy SA and hopes to expose others to dance and grow the community of dance. “I aspire to be a filmmaker and learn more about the industry. I consider myself my biggest supporter because belief starts within you,” he said.

He plans to explore art as a concept in order to later share it with the world. “Having danced most of my life, it is as important as breathing to me,” said Fitt. In his spare time, he plays basketball but says he will always be creative. Fitt is asking for people to support his music and his dance career.
