Mzansi Ballet and Abraham Kriel Bambanani are joining forces to present Carmen, a ballet performance set to take place on December 12, at the Pieter Toerien Theatre at Montecasino.

This event aims to raise funds to support children in need while showcasing the beauty of dance. Mzansi Ballet is excited to partner with Abraham Kriel Bambanani to make a meaningful impact during the festive season.

According to Dirk Badenhorst, from Mzansi Ballet, “This collaboration allows us to reaffirm our mission of inspiring young South Africans and spreading hope. It’s not just about the ballet; it’s about the positive change we can create together.”

The production of Carmen is a unique fusion of classical ballet, Spanish dance, and Pantsula, featuring collaborations with renowned Spanish dance companies. This blend is set to create a captivating experience for audiences while honouring the rich cultural tapestry of South Africa.

A key component of this initiative is the outreach to underprivileged communities. The performance will offer tickets to young individuals from these communities and provide an opportunity for the audience to donate gifts that will be distributed to children in need.

Snyman Teessen, from Abraham Kriel Bambanani, highlights the significance of this effort. “For many children, this will be their first experience attending a ballet performance. It’s a chance for them to feel valued and supported by their community.”

Both organisations hope to raise awareness about the challenges faced by children in care, and to generate critical funds that will support the ongoing work of Abraham Kriel Bambanani in providing holistic care for these vulnerable youth.

“This event is a great opportunity to connect the community with the arts while also supporting a noble cause. It’s more than just a showcase; it’s about fostering a sense of belonging and hope for the children we serve,” added Teessen.

Badenhorst also explained that their goal is to inspire young South Africans and give hope to those who need it most, especially during the festive season. “Our mission goes beyond the stage. We want to create an experience that allows these children to feel special, and remind them that they are valued members of our community.”

Tickets can be purchased directly from Abraham Kriel Bambanani at 082 577 7445 for R300, with R150 going to the ballet and R150 supporting the children. This is a meaningful way to celebrate the season.
