No bomb at Montecasino, management confirms
A bystander has confirmed police activity at the entertainment hub, but all is now calm.
Despite a viral social media post doing the rounds this evening, Montecasino management has confirmed that no bomb threat has been received by the entertainment hub.
A post began circulating just after 18:00 stating that the casino was being evacuated and that law enforcement officials were on scene.
The Douglasdale CPF was aware of the claims, but could not comment, while Douglasdale Police said they would investigate, but declined to comment further. Montecasino management denied the incident outright.

According to Erin Davidson who was at the casino at the time, police were seen near the movies, and the movies were evacuated. A police helicopter could also be seen in the vicinity. However, by 20:00 everything appeared to be clear and back to normal.
Posts on social media suggest that police were investigating an abandoned parcel.

Montecasino issued a statement indicating that a bomb threat was received, and that protocols were followed in order to ensure the safety of patrons.
“Earlier today Montecasino received a bomb threat. Following strict safety protocols, guests in the area were taken to safety, and the South African Police Service (SAPS) bomb disposal unit conducted a thorough sweep of the precinct. The threat was unfounded and SAPS has issued a Clearance Certificate. The area has now been cleared and safely reopened. The origin of the threat is now being investigated by SAPS.”
