Crawford International Lonehill matric learner and upcoming artist Jaidyn Lael is making a mark on the local music scene with his new single, Memories Burn Bright released on October 29, 2025.

The song is based on a deeply personal experience, Jaidyn’s own matric dance, which he calls unforgettable.

“I remember walking into the dance feeling both excited and nervous, knowing this would be a memorable day. As I danced under the bright lights, everything else faded away; it was just me, my date, the music, and the energy of that night.”

The girl he attended the dance with greatly influenced the song’s emotion. “It was everything: her beautiful dress, her eyes, her smile, and the feeling that we were the only two people in the world at that moment. It wasn’t just about the dance; it was the joy and sense of timelessness.”

To capture this cherished memory, Jaidyn drew inspiration from the romantic sounds of 1960s pop. “I’ve always loved the orchestration, melodies, and emotional vocal style of that era.”

By combining vintage chord progressions with his singing and modern production, he created a sound that pays tribute to icons like Elvis Presley, while still being uniquely his own.

Jaidyn said the songwriting process felt natural, and he wrote the lyrics in just 15 minutes. “It started with a melody in my head, the emotion turned into musical phrases.”
