Johannesburg Roads Agency confirms fix for backwards traffic laaitie at Peltier and Waterfall
UPDATE: JRA and Johannesburg Water officials are set to inspect and correct the misaligned traffic light at Peltier and Waterfall roads after residents raised concerns about the signal facing the wrong direction.
Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) head of mobility and freight Sipho Nhlapo said the agency is aware that traffic laaitie, the wrong-way-facing robot at the intersection of Peltier Drive and Waterfall Drive in Sunninghill, was not reinstalled in its original position after excavation work conducted by Johannesburg Water.

Nhlapo said both entities are scheduled to meet on site on today to assess the situation and begin correcting the alignment of the signal. “Johannesburg Water was issued a wayleave to undertake excavations at the intersection of Maxwell and Peltier roads in Sunninghill, to service one of their water pipes which runs beneath the road and traffic signals.”
In the meantime, the agency has taken precautionary steps to reduce safety risks. “The traffic lights were reset to flash red on February 26, so that the intersection functions as a multi-way stop to minimise confusion for motorists.”
