Witkoppen Clinic security guard goes beyond his duty to assist Fourways patients
A dedicated security guard at Witkoppen Clinic has spent 5 years helping community members, elderly visitors and disabled patients navigate their medical visits.
Security guards are often the first line of protection at any facility, keeping a watchful eye over people and property. But at Witkoppen Clinic, the man at the gate is known for something more – a warm smile, a helpful nature and a larger-than-life personality.
Jabu Khoza (36) has been stationed at the clinic for the past five years, a period he describes as fruitful and fulfilling.

From Monday to Friday, Khoza can be found at the clinic’s gate, where his role goes beyond simply keeping watch. He spends much of his working day interacting with patients and assisting those who may need an extra helping hand, including sick, elderly and disabled visitors.
“For me, working here is fruitful because I get to meet new people every day,” said Khoza. “I also get the opportunity to assist sick people, disabled people and elderly people, and that fulfils me.”
His position at the entrance has given him the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and become a familiar face to those who visit the clinic regularly.
For Khoza, helping people is one of the aspects of his work he enjoys most.
“I enjoy helping people. Every day I meet different people, and being able to assist them makes me happy.”
His connection with the local community also extends beyond the clinic gates. Khoza said he enjoys keeping up with what is happening in the area through the Fourways Review, which he receives as part of his daily routine at the clinic.
As one of the first people to receive the newspaper, Khoza said it gives him an opportunity to stay informed about the community around him.

“I enjoy reading the Fourways Review because it keeps me informed about what is happening in the community.”
When he is away from the clinic and has time to himself, Khoza enjoys attending church, which forms part of how he spends his free time.
After five years at Witkoppen Clinic, Khoza has become more than just the security guard at the gate. For many patients, he is the first smile, greeting and helping hand they encounter when they arrive.
