Manhunt for KZN armed robbers underway

A manhunt is under way for the suspects who allegedly robbed two men after they withdrew money from a bank in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal earlier this morning.

The two men were believed to have been forced into their bakkie by the criminals, who were armed with knives, after leaving a bank on Aiken Street, South Coast Herald reported.

The men were then made to drive to Spiller’s Wharf, where the robbers allegedly turned on the men, stabbing both, before making off on foot with the cash. Both victims have been taken to hospital. Investigations are under way.

This after video footage showed the ambush and robbery of a man outside a busy Durban mall last week.

The video shows a white vehicle pulling into the parking area of The Pavillion Centre. Three men armed with rifles are then seen getting out of the car and approaching the victim.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said the victim, a 52-year-old businessman, was accosted by the three unknown men armed with rifles. “He was going to the bank when he was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash. Suspects sped off in their getaway vehicle,” he said. He added a case of armed robbery was being investigated by Westville police, while no arrest have yet been made.
