Two ADT incidents reported this week

FOURWAYS - Two incidents were reported to ADT this past week, the first in Douglasdale and the second in Crowthorne.

Managing director of ADT central region, Clive Humphrey, said the first incident occurred on 6 July just after midnight. “Suspects forced open the main gate at a commercial property on Witkoppen Road, Douglasdale. They stole a generator before fleeing the scene,” he said.
Humphrey said the second incident that the security company was alerted to occurred on 11 July, also just after midnight. “Suspects removed a bar of the palisade fence at a property in Whisken Avenue, Crowthorne, and forced open a sliding door to try and get into the house. Fortunately they could not open the burglar gate and fled without gaining entry.”
Humphrey said residents should check their security systems regularly and gave the following advice:

  • Test your alarm at least once a month.
  • Arm your alarm whenever you leave home and when you go to bed.
  • Report any suspicious activity to ADT or the SAPS immediately.
  • Be aware of your surroundings at all times when leaving or arriving home and make sure the gate closes directly behind you before you park the car and get out.
  • Carry your remote panic with you at home or contact ADT to sign up for the ADT Cell Panic service.
  • Don’t open the gate for strangers! Domestic staff must phone their employer if there is someone at the gate who wants to come onto the property.
  • Always verify the ID of any service provider wanting access to your property.
