Schools participate in KFC mini-cricket festival
DAINFERN - The Gauteng Cricket Union hosted a KFC mini-cricket festival at Dainfern College 14 September.
A morning of cricket fun was held, with 104 000 boys and girls from the age of ten to thirteen actively participating in the festival. A large number of schools from different regions were part of the cricket action, too.
The Gauteng festival was the second out of sixteen festivals to be hosted around the country with the aim of encouraging children to be more active, while being given a chance to audition to become mini-cricket ambassadors. Some of the children were selected to take part in the KFC T20 International and Ram Slam challenge by participating in different activities such as coin tossing, and acting as ball boys and girls on the boundaries at the matches.
“The next festival will offer even more with the KFC mini-cricket kids vs the Proteas tour. Seven lucky competition winners selected through a USSD competition that started on 8 September and ends on 8 October will get to play a KFC mini-cricket game against the Proteas,” said Shaun Belluigi, who is one of the organisers.
