Residents’ input needed
SUNNINGHILL- Sunninghill Community Ratepayers Association has given feedback to residents on pressing issues within their suburb.

Linda Gildenhuys, head of the security wing of the association addressed the contentious issue of the proposed Summercon development on the corner of Nanyuki Road and Kilindini Street.
The association was informed that it had 60 days in which to comment on the development. According to Gildenhuys they received about 52 objections to this development, one being that the high density of this development would have an adverse effect on traffic in Nanyuki Road.
However, the association had received feedback from the city council stating that the objections, bar one, were submitted too late and that new legislature had set aside 28 days in which to comment.
The association had tried to negotiate with the city council, however the council had remained steadfast.
Another issue in Sunninghill that required urgent consideration by residents was the installation of traffic lights on the corner of Tana and Nanyuki roads. Gildenhuys said these traffic lights seemed to serve no purpose and in fact may cause major traffic congestion. She said the traffic lights would make it difficult for Sunninghill Gardens residents to leave the area during peak hours.
Gildenhuys urged all Sunninghill residents with comments regarding these traffic lights to submit their objections in writing to Ward 93 councillor, Annette Deppe and to the association.
She also suggested that residents should take photos of any traffic build-up which will be passed on to Deppe and the Johannesburg Roads Agency.
