Archive centre requires consideration

PAULSHOF - The Paulshof Residents and Ratepayers Association is urging Paulshof residents to register as interested and affected parties to comment on the development of an archive centre in Paulshof Central.

The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation has made application for the development and establishment of a provincial archive centre on the vacant land situated between Uvongo, Stone Haven and Amamzintoti roads in Paulshof Central. The application, which is available for viewing at Rawson Properties’ offices in Cambridge shopping centre, states that the archive centre will consist of a building that will host the government’s industrial records, and will allow for the organisation and storage of these records. According to the association, the vacant land is currently zoned as educational, which they believe does not include a government administration.

The association believes that all residents and homeowners in Paulshof will be affected by the proposed development, not only those in the immediate vicinity. It said there were 19 different national acts, bylaws and policies governing this proposed development such as health and safety, waste management and noise pollution.

The association explained that while the initial traffic assessment report supported the development, it failed to take into account the effect of the booming and security measures implemented by the Paulshof community.

The association urged the public to acquaint themselves with the proposal and submit their registrations.

The public have until 10 May 2014 to register as interested and affected parties by submitting their names, contact details and interest in the project to M Ledwaba, Methale Environment.
