Mazeltov Chabad of Fourways
FOURWAYS - Chabad Fourways celebrated its five year anniversary at Montecasino's Ballroom.
With dinner and music the Chabad members celebrated their thriving Shul community, the Jewish Montessori preschool, a Hebrew school, and all the programmes and activities they offer the broader community.
Guests came to show support and admiration for the pioneering work of Rabbi Dovi and Yael Rabin, leaders of the community. Rabin said the idea for a gala dinner was born a year ago when the members of the community felt it was time to “do something big”.
“We invited our own members and supporters from across town, to reflect on how far we’ve come over the last six years,” he said.
The keynote address was delivered by Rabbi Kasriel Shemtov, the executive director of the Mayanot Institute of Jewish Studies, who travelled from Jerusalem especially for the dinner as a note of gratitude and vote of confidence in the Rabins who began their leadership career at the institute. Reflecting on the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s vision of touching every single individual throughout the world and having a positive effect on all of humanity, Shemtov described how a community comprised of many different individuals and through everyone playing their part, it ensured the growth and success of the community.
Lubavitcher was the last Rebbe leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, and a great contributor to the Jewish religion.
Rabin invited the audience to see the life and love at Chabad of Fourways through a beautiful video presentation on their Jewish Montessori nursery school for children, synagogue services, hospital visitations, Bar and Bat Mitzva classes, weekly Shiurim and general outreach to the greater Fourways area.
The dinner ended with a live auction and entertainment from comedian Nik Rabinowitz, who had the crowd in hysterics.
