Clean me to green me project in Diepsloot
DIEPSLOOT - Standard Bank’s social awareness team gathered in Diepsloot, in partnership with Drum Tribe and Meals on Wheels and carried out an eco clean-up initiative.
The day kicked off with Shaun Reyneke and his Drum Tribe team, who had an interactive drumming session with the volunteers.
Members of the community teamed up with the volunteers and, armed with recycling bags, the teams picked up litter in an area adjacent to Mother’s Love Day Care.
According to Romy-Anne Reyneke of Drum Tribe, the initiative was not only a clean-up project for the area but was also aimed at enabling Diepsloot residents to be involved in an eco-friendly lifestyle.
“The residents will now be able to live in a healthy environment,” said Reyneke. “The residents can save money by recycling goods and materials such as cans, paper and metal.”
Recycling bins have been set up in the community and are clearly marked to separate various materials such as glass, cans, paper and plastic.
