Road behaviour a target for Douglasdale police

DOUGLASDALE - Police and the Community Policing Forum have focused their efforts on traffic violations

Efforts to ensure safety on Douglasdale’s roads continued in full force in recent weeks. A number of road blocks were held in and around the Fourways precinct, with police and Metro police stopping a substantial number of vehicles to check licences, roadworthiness, passenger-carrying permits and taxi route adherence.

The community has shown its support for operations, and CPF members have joined road blocks to provide explanations to the public, and to reassure community members that the role of the policing services was to serve and protect society.

Following from the success of recent weeks, operations were set to intensify, and would be carried out at all times of the day and night, throughout the week.

Motorists are urged to check that their fines had been paid, that their vehicle and drivers’ licences were current, and that they obey the rules of the road.

“Drinking and driving, as well as reckless driving, will be dealt with severely; and road rage will not be tolerated,” added Douglasdale CPF chairperson, Advocate Jean Berdou.
