Rafa is championship royalty

DOUGLASDALE - A Douglasdale resident and his rottweiler have once again excelled at a dog show championship.

At the second annual Preator championship show, the rottweiler named Rafa of Royal Breed was in the biggest male class of the day. According to Rafa’s owner, Kenneth Garvie, he went on to win his class. Rafa of Royal Breed was imported from the Royal Breed Kennels in Serbia, hence his name. Competing against all the other classes, Rafa took top place out of all the males, then went on to challenge the females for Best of Breed. Rafa triumphed in this category too and was awarded a top spot for the second time this year. The championship was especially tough since judging Rafa was specialist rottweiler judge, Frank Beiboer. Beiboer has judged more than 80 events in 16 countries.

Rafa also passed his breed assessment with flying colours. The assessment is a test in which dogs are weighed, measured and their temperaments tested for aggressiveness or shyness. Garvie is unbelievably proud of his canine friend’s achievements, but believes that Rafa is a pet before he is a show dog.
