Sign petition for better law enforcement on Douglasdale’s roads

FOURWAYS -The Douglasdale Business Forum will be hosting a Bring Back the Law Enforcement petition calling for Metro police bylaw and traffic law enforcement on Douglasdale's roads.

The forum will host the petition as well as a membership drive at Douglasdale Shopping Centre on 18 April from 9am to 1pm.

The roads that the forum would like to see stricter traffic laws enforced on are Douglas Drive, Leslie Avenue West, Alexander Road and Kingfisher Road.

The forum’s Susan Mottram said, “We invite and urge residents, businesses and other stakeholders of Douglasdale and surrounding residential areas to come and sign the petition. We will give the petition to the Petitions Committee in Johannesburg City Council.”

Mottram said the forum aimed to:

  •  Communicate the existence and purpose of the Douglasdale Business Forum, which is to promote cleaner and safer main routes in and around Douglasdale with four roads targeted.
  •  Tell residents about the proposed name change of the DouglasdaleBusiness Forum to Douglasdale Business and Residents’ Forum. “This is to encourage more residents to join our campaign for cleaner and safer roads and pavements, which includes having vehicles removed from our pavements and verges permanently,” said Mottram.
  • Get residents to sign a petition to the City of Johannesburg to have Metro police visibility and law enforcement on at least a weekly basis on our main traffic routes.
