Hot dogs at Ark Animal Centre

CHARTWELL – The saying ‘every dog has it's day’ couldn’t ring more true at Ark Animal Centre on 17 July when hundreds of volunteers made their way to the shelter as part of its Mandela Day celebrations, just so they could spend some quality time with four-legged fur-friends.

Hot FM radio personalities Gavin Singh and Michaela K (Kirkinis) broadcast live from the event and were joined by various other celebrities including Cito Otto, Pigspotter, Nikki Brest and JP ‘Tinkerbell’ Kruger to name a few, who helped to raise enough funds for the centre to build a perimeter fence around the property.

Volunteers were given the opportunity to walk and wash the dogs, help with maintenance around the kennels, or just love and play with the many adorable pups at the centre.

“Today has been fantastic,” said centre founder, Tracy Otto with excitement.

“And the fun will continue tomorrow [18 July] because we have a number of schools coming to volunteer. The support has been overwhelming.”

Any supporters who weren’t able to make it needn’t worry for they can still make a difference in a pup’s life by sending an SMS with the words ‘Donate Food’ to 48748, thereby making a R20 donation toward the welfare of all the animals who have been given a second chance at life thanks to the centre.
