A new chapter for Broadacres Academy and Farm Nursery School

BROADACRES – Toasting to new beginnings, the Broadacres Academy and Farm Nursery School hosted a Family Moonlight Picnic to say goodbye to current owner Nigel Fitton.

After 19 years of running the school, Fitton said, “I’d like to carry on, but there’s a need to inject new blood and new ideas.”

Fitton, who bought the school in 1996 together with his wife Phedre Fitton, said after her passing two years back, he decided to take a step back.

Although a very sad day for him, Fitton explained that when he and his wife bought the school 19 years ago, all they wanted was to make it the top nursery school in the area, a vision he believed they had fulfilled.

He added that he had no doubt that the new owners would continue with that vision, “Andre [de Coning] and Dylan [Cavanagh] have the vision to take the school another 20 years… I have great confidence in them,” he said.

The picnic was attended by close family and friends, past and current pupils and staff members.

The nursery school has also proven to have made quite an impact on old pupils, “This year we have already had two girls who were at this school do their teaching practicals, you can’t do any better than that,” Fitton said.

Cavanagh and De Coning have plans to build the school up to Grade 7 by 2020.
