99-year-old resident registers for municipal elections

SUNNINGHILL – Read up on how 99-year-old man takes the 2016 municipal elections seriously.

An elderly man walked to the polling station set up at St Peter’s College in Sunninghill during the final registration weekend of the 2016 municipal elections.

According to Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe, the 99-year-old man came to check his name on the register.

“It was so wonderful to see that the elderly man has taken the responsibility to check if he has been registered. He walked to get to the polling station and showed how important it is for one to register to vote in the upcoming municipal elections,” Deppe expressed.

“This was a pure example that everyone’s vote does count and that it is not too late to be counted in.”

The elderly man is said to be turning the grand age of 100 on 7 July.
