Author to hold seminar on writing your book

Author and biographer David Gammell will hold a seminar where he discusses how to write a book.

Everyone has a book in them – some books are meant to stay within their authors, but others are meant to be published for the public’s enjoyment.

Your book could be one meant to be published. Successful author and best-selling biographer of Joost van der Westhuizen, David Gammell, will be covering this topic at his seminar titled Write That Book!! on 10 September.

Gammell said, “When I tell people I am an author, inevitably they respond, ‘I should write a book’, but depressingly few have actually written one. So it begs the question… if you should, why haven’t you?”

He explained the answer, “People don’t know where to begin. And if they do actually start, more often than not they don’t know how to complete what they have begun. And, if amazingly, they do finish, they don’t know what to do next. How do they get published? What are the options available and how do they go about them? How do they market their book? To whom?”

Gammell addresses these topics and more in his seminar. He covers how to determine the purpose of your book, your intended audience and the content and he discusses how to go about the processes of writing, editing, publishing and marketing your book.

“Let me take you through all the steps you need to soon be holding a book with your name on it. The satisfaction and sense of achievement of completing your own book (I know, I’ve done it), is simply indescribable and lives with you forever.”

The seminar will take place on 10 September at Active Zone at 256 Bryanston Drive from 9am to 12pm. The cost is R900 per person and spots can be reserved by contacting him on gemmelljl@gmail.com; 082 804 2943.
