FOURWAYS – Read to see who is nominated for the Top Cop Award.

The Top Cop Award recognises the efforts made by the policemen and women of Douglasdale Police Station.

Nominee for the award, Constable Otto Mashele said, “I am very happy to be nominated and [am more] motivated as my duties that I perform at this station are being recognised.

“I am involved in crime prevention and drug awareness campaigns and we do all we can to keep the community clean and crime-free. We patrol in shopping centres and neighbourhoods for possible robbery hotspots and try our best to prevent it.”

He added that should he win the Top Cop Award, he would spend the money on a braai for his colleagues. “We as the police force work tirelessly to keep the community safe and with the braai, hopefully they will get to unwind and relax by enjoying each other’s company.”

Mashele was nominated by his colleague, Sergeant Siyabonga Mbombo who said, “Constable Mashele is a very initiative [orientated] individual and has informers around the area which makes our job a lot easier when arresting the suspects who deal with drugs.

“Mashele is very passionate about his work and is very dedicated in what he does. He is currently busy working on a big firearm case in the Kyasands informal settlement and I believe he deserves the motivation by receiving the Top Cop Award.”
