The headmistress of Beaulieu Preparatory School is proud of her school’s history of excellence in the National Science Olympiad over the past 17 years.
The schoolchildren first sat for the National Science Olympiad exams in 2001.
Over the past 17 years, the school has had 54 schoolchildren placed in the top five in the country. In addition, 19 classes have been placed in the top three in the country during that time.
Miles Goeller in Grade 4 was placed first in the Grade 4 National Science Olympiad. There were 78 schools that entered children at Grade 4 level and 1 415 schoolchildren wrote the paper.
Nathan Baker was placed third and the Grade 4s were placed second as a grade.
Platinum certificates were awarded to children who achieved 80 percent or more in the examination.
This year, only 10 Platinum certificates were awarded nationally in this age group and two of them went to youngsters at Beaulieu Preparatory School.
Timothy Maximov was placed third in the Grade 6 National Science Olympiad. There were 85 schools which participated at this level and 1 435 youngsters wrote this paper. Only six platinum certificates were awarded in this age group.
