Puppy love this Valentine’s Day at Lonehill Shopping Centre

CHARTWELL – Read on the importance of sterilisation of puppies.

Adoption awareness and the importance of sterilisation of dogs was Ark Animal Centre’s week-long message at their Valentine’s Day drive held in Lonehill Shopping Centre’s courtyard

Visitors learned how to care for their animals, particularly small puppies.

The centre’s Candice Eilertsen said, “The turnout was phenomenal and the people coming to visit were all such quality individuals. We were able to educate everyone, including children, on animal care, the importance of sterilisation and what we deal with on a day-to-day basis at the centre,”

The Ark is a rehabilitation and re-homing animal shelter in the heart of Fourways which is also the only shelter that specifically caters for pregnant dogs and puppies under three months old.

“We have a no-suffer policy for animals in our care. We specialise in the rehabilitation and re-homing of puppies, pregnant mothers and small-breed dogs from all types of backgrounds. We take in puppies from all over Gauteng and we home puppies countrywide. We homed 100 dogs in our first 100 days – a first in welfare,” Eilertsen explained.

The shelter’s facilities are built for small-breed dogs and puppies and do not take in any adult dogs.
