Mayor of Johannesburg speaks service delivery at Indaba Hotel
DAINFERN – This is what the mayor had to say about the City's overall service delivery.
The Mayor of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba gave an overall feedback on service delivery in the city to residents of Ward 94 at Indaba Hotel.
Mashaba said it was his dream to see a city where residents felt safe and criminals were accountable for their crimes.
“This is the reason why earlier this year we launched operation #BuyaMthetho which will bring back the law in the city,” he said.
“It is the reason why I am a public servant. To see that the issues of the city are addressed.”
He added some of the major issues in the city were potholes, a lack of maintenance on bridges, water leaks, power outages and a housing backlog.
Mashaba encouraged the community to come together and help build the city. “This is why last year I launched A Re Sebetseng [clean-up campaign] which has helped unite people in the city by a common cause of volunteerism to see a change in the city.”
When asked for comment, Ward 94 councillor, David Foley thanked Mashaba, speaker Vasco Da Gama, MMC for Economic Development Leah Knott, MMC for Finance, Funzela Ngobeni and MMC for Public Safety Michael Sun for taking the time to speak to Ward 94 residents about service delivery in the city.
Foley added that more than 100 people attended the meeting. “Feedback [from attendees] was that the mayor of the DA-led coalition is doing an excellent job and they appreciated his honesty with some of the challenges the city faces on a daily basis.”
