FCCI welcomes all, big or small

PINESLOPES – At a recent meeting held at the Hirsch's Fourways branch, members of the Fourways Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussed how their organisation hopes to help businesses both big and small.

The Hirsch’s store in Fourways showed its support for business on 23 April when it hosted a special meeting in conjunction with the Fourways Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI).

The event was hosted at Hirsch’s store and saw Danie Bezuidenhout, the president of the FCCI, get up and speak to gathered FCCI members, business owners and other guests who attended the day.

Bezuidenhout explained a bit about what the chamber does and also talked about the benefits to entrepreneurs who join the organisation.

After the official talks, attendees were invited to network while enjoying coffee and sweet treats and a business card draw decided who won the Margaret Hirsch cookbook which was on offer.

“We’re very excited to host the Fourways Chamber of Commerce and Industry today,” said Marjone Barnard, the public relations officer for the Fourways branch where the event was hosted.

“This is a first for our store, and is a chance to grow our relationships with the business community.”

According to Barnard, going forward Hirsch’s will host such meetings on a monthly basis, both in Fourways and at their Hyde Park branch.

“Hirsch’s has always supported business, both new and small, and this is an opportunity to show people how we strive to provide a service to businesses,” she added.

The FCCI is a place for business owners to network and the organisation aims to assist and promote member companies as much as possible.

“The chamber focuses strongly on small business development,” explained Linda Blackbeard, the chief executive officer of the FCCI. “It is about how can we get larger businesses to support small business – it’s inspiring to see what can happen in just one week thanks to our members.”

Large businesses and corporates are also welcome. The next meeting will be held on 7 May and will feature a guest speaker who is an exciting leader in the business world.
