Intersection soon to be completed
MAGALIESIG – Leslie Road and Witkoppen Road upgrades experience another delay as entities fail to remove their services from the construction site.
The upgrade of the intersection at Leslie and Witkoppen roads in Magaliessig should be complete by the end of this month.
This, after the construction hit a slight set-back as the developers, Abland, explained existing third-party services in the area had to be relocated before the road works could be completed.
Abland representative, Grant Silverman said, “The Leslie-Witkoppen road upgrades are 89 per cent complete with the road widening and walkways.
“To a large extent, we have managed to get the third party services relocated, and engagements with the remaining service providers indicate that we will have these completed by mid-August, which affect a localised area.
“We continue to proceed with the bulk of the roadworks and walkways with the intention to have all works completed by the end of August.”
Ward 93 councillor Candice James explained the progress and how traffic was moving in the area.
“The slipstreams have already been open, so the traffic flow at the moment is much faster and efficient, we are hoping that by mid-August or end of the August everything will be complete.”
