ALERT: Controlled blast scheduled on the corner of Fourways Boulevard and Roos Street tomorrow

FOURWAYS – The total road closure event could last between five to 10 minutes and a blast-controller will be in radio contact with all closure positions, as well as the blaster.


Jodan Construction will be performing a blast at their construction site on 21 August. The blasting will take place on the corner of Fourways Boulevard and Roos Street between 6am and 12pm.

According to a statement released by Jodan Construction, all blasts will be controlled, executed in the safest possible manner (according to the Explosive Act and Regulations and  Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations), and should not have any impact on the residents of the area.

Traffic will be stopped by Jodan Construction’s traffic-controllers during the blast and an audible siren will be made at least three minutes before the blast.

The total road closure event could last between five to 10 minutes and a blast-controller will be in radio contact with all closure positions, as well as the blaster.

Jodan Construction said that they will open road closures at the soonest possible time to do so safely. For safety reasons, no onlookers will be allowed inside their safety perimeter (closure positions).

Jodan Construction will also be monitoring various pre-determined positions. The statement added, “We trust that this event (as well as the ones to follow) will have the least impact on our surroundings, and we will do everything in our ability to secure this.”

Everyone is urged to remove all machines as well as vehicles from the bottom platform before the blast.
