Talk their way to the top

LONEHILL – The junior debaters from Crawford College Lonehill made their school proud recently by talking their way to the top of the recently held SACEE Championship.

The Crawford College Lonehill junior debaters flew their school’s flag sky-high on 3 August, when they debated in the South African Council for English Education (SACEE) Championship Plate Round.

They won both the quarter-final and the semi-final rounds, progressing to the final against Roedean School. The team emerged convincing winners in a unanimous 3–0 adjudication.

The school is immensely proud of their achievements and special congratulations to Reyah Chetty who was announced as a top-10 speaker of the championship at the prize-giving. She achieved eighth position.

This team has worked incredibly hard to achieve these accolades and has also secured themselves a ‘golden ticket’ to the provincial selection where they will compete as a team, but selections are done on an individual basis.

The staff and children of Crawford College Lonehill wish every member all the best for these trials that are taking place in September.
