Fourways local Janez Vermeiren launches new social media platform

FOURWAYS - The social media platform aims to connect brands and agencies with content creators.

A new online platform (app) has been launched to help up and coming South African content creators to connect directly with different organisations and clients to promote their work.

Former Top Billing presenter hailing from Fourways, Janez Vermeiren and film director known as Peri vP have partnered to develop a new platform for content creators named Fylmer.tv.

The concept had been in discussion since late 2019 and took eight months to build, and had a soft launch in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Vermeiren said creators and those in the film industry have been hit hard by the pandemic, and that it was by chance the pandemic gave the team the time to launch the platform.

“The effects of Covid-19 on all industries have made it more crucial than ever to be innovative and at the forefront of challenges that may arise. A platform like this has brought a new opportunity to find work,” he said.

The duo was excited to provide an exciting new platform to content creators and clients. The platform will connect brands and agencies with content creators, and creators get a chance to pitch on briefs and win commissions from clients

“We all know that when developing something ‘disruptive’, the biggest challenge is the adoption process because naturally people resist change. The main objective for us was to make sure that the platform was super easy and user friendly for both filmmakers and clients to use,” Vermeiren added.

The team has worked hard to ensure that there is not copyright infringement when using the platform. “Our legal team made sure our terms and conditions protect both clients and creators alike. Our team go through every submitted treatment to every brief and make sure no intellectual property is taken from creators that were not awarded to do the job.”

The former presenter spoke of goals to expand the platform and be recognised on the continent by both creators and clients for anyone that has brilliant ideas, and not have continental borders hinder their growth.

“Personally, I hope this platform helps open up the film industry and uncovers the incredible creative talent that will go on to achieve international acclaim.”
