Local philanthropist help residents put bread on the table
SUNNINGHILL– Monachi says his initiative have seen many unemployed people getting employment in different sectors.
In 2017, a local philanthropist and businessman, Joseph Monachi embarked on a mission to help residents of Clay Oven informal settlement with the necessary skills and documents to find employment.
Monachi said growing up in a poor family had taught him the importance of sharing the little he had with those who have nothing. “In 2017, I visited the Clay Oven informal settlement community which has more than 800 households, to lend a helping hand. During my visit, I realised that many people were unemployed and some didn’t have identity documents which is one of the most important things for job seekers.
“I worked with community leaders to identify those who didn’t have identity documents and we helped them.”
