Children from surrounding informal settlements receive Christmas gifts from a local clinic
FOURWAYS – Kahn said Witkoppen Clinic has seen the pain on the faces of children that visit the clinic whom many of them are from deprived communities.
Witkoppen Clinic hosted its annual Christmas Bash for orphans and vulnerable children from surrounding informal settlements on November 27.
Children received gifts packs filled with goodies for the festive season.
Business development manager at Witkoppen Clinic Dagmar Kahn thanked local non-profit organisation, Entruevest Impilo Foundation and some local schools for making this year’s children Christmas party a success.
“The year 2021 has been filled with great hardship. As a country, we are still pulling ourselves out of the ruins of the Covid-19 pandemic. Many people are still left with no hope and no light at the end of the tunnel. With many people having lost their jobs, a lot of households are left without an income. This has seriously impacted many families in the informal settlements communities and many children have been left demoralized and hopeless,” she said.
Kahn said Witkoppen Clinic has seen the pain on the faces of children that visit the clinic whom many of them are from deprived communities.
She said some of the children received a Christmas gift for the first time in their lives. “The Covid-19-friendly event was jam-packed with food, cupcakes and gifts as well as plenty of hand sanitiser and social distancing. As a clinic, we aim to impact the lives of people in a positive way,” Kahn said.
“Thanks to the amazing contributions from Entruevest Impilo Foundation, Redhill School, Steyn City School, Brescia House School and Curro Douglasdale. With their help, we were able our Christmas Bash for the orphans and vulnerable children from the surrounding informal settlements.”
