Simryn Pillay from Pinnacle College Kyalami bags seven distinctions

KYALAMI– Pilkington said if Grade 12 cohort of 2020 was sorely affected by Covid-19 during their academic year, the class of 2021 was even more affected.


The principal at Pinnacle College in Kyalami, John Pilkington praised the matric Class of 2021 for achieving stunning results under difficult learning conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Pilkington said if the Grade 12s of 2020 were badly affected by Covid-19 during their academic year, the Class of 2021 was even more affected with their Grade 11 and 12 years being filled with uncertainty.

“Pinnacle College Kyalami Class of 2021 dug deep and achieved a pleasing set of results. We are proud of all those who achieved at their very best possible level. Some of our learners achieved six distinctions which is a wonderful testament to real tenacity in their characters. The 80% bachelor’s degree pass has opened so many doors across the tertiary landscape and we look forward to their future success,” he said.

Pilkington also congratulated the top achievers and encouraged them to continue working hard to reach their dreams.

“A special congratulations to Kiara Nair and Simryn Pillay on their seven distinctions. Also deserving of accolades are Sibongakonke Siphamandla Mathe and Aliya Olivier for their five distinctions which, in Aliya’s case, included three results above 90%.”
Simryn who achieved distinctions in all her subjects said her achievement would have been impossible without the support of her family and teachers at the school.

“I am extremely happy to have achieved seven distinctions. I plan to study finance or medicine at one of the local universities from this year,” Simryn said.
