Local non-profit organisation that helps feed and give care to neglected dogs needs donations

FOURWAYS– Ramalho said Dogs Trust goes into the townships daily to find animals that are abused, neglected, injured or kept in substandard environments and give them care.

The founder of Dog Trust non-profit organisation Lee Ramalho has appealed to members of the public to help lend a helping hand with monetary and food donations to feed and take care of dogs sheltered by the organisation.

Ramalho said Dogs Trust goes into the townships daily to find animals that are abused, neglected, injured or kept in substandard environments.

“Our aim is to take care of abused, neglected and injured dogs. We set up running chains, improving sleeping and living conditions, providing warm beds for winter, shelter for summer as well as food, water, collars and kennels for them. Their medical treatment is paid for by Dogs Trust and with the help of our kind donors, we manage to successfully rescue and provide shelter to about one animal per week,” she said.

She also encouraged and appealed to members of the community to adopt at least one dog sheltered at the facility.

“We are really looking for foster or forever homes for the dogs that we have at the kennels. We are always in need of donations for our vet bill and kennel bills. We kennel all our dogs at Manderston Canine Academy and we take all our dogs to Society for Animals in Distress for vet care,” Ramalho concluded.
