Matthew Vaughan from Dainfern College excited to join Johannesburg Youth Orchestra

FOURWAYS – Dainfern College violinist thanked his violin tutor at the school for her patience and continued support.

A Grade 8 learner at Dainfern College, Matthew Vaughan, has been accepted to be part of the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra.

The Johannesburg Youth Orchestra gives talented youngsters from Johannesburg and the greater Gauteng an opportunity to learn, create and become immersed in the life-changing joys of making music every year.

Matthew, who started violin lessons when he was in Grade 0, and also a founding member of the Violin Ensemble at Dainfern College, said he was excited to realise his dream to join the orchestra.

“I am so proud to be a part of the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra as it is an achievement I have been working very hard toward over the years.

“I would like to thank Dainfern College for encouraging me to explore violin art and my tutor, Melissa Witbooi, for her patience and continued support, as I would never be where I am today without her.”
