Diepsloot murder suspect briefly appears at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court

Diepsloot Police Station's spokesperson said the suspect was apprehended after a few days in hiding.

A 27-year-old male suspect was remanded in custody after he briefly appeared at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on May 11.

Diepsloot Police Station spokesperson Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said the suspect was arrested on May 9 for murder.

“In the early hours of Monday, May 2, the suspect allegedly stabbed a 29-year-old male to death following a fight over a girlfriend. Soon after [allegedly] committing the crime, the suspect then went into hiding but was successfully traced and arrested on May 9, in Diepsloot Ext 7.”

Mathebula encouraged community members to continue reporting any criminal activities to the local police. “Our community members have been very instrumental in helping the police apprehend wanted criminals. We urge them to continue working with the police to bring lawbreakers behind bars and face the mighty hand of justice,” he said.
