Local residents association hosts picnic event to eradicate evasive weed in a local dam
LONEHILL– Marketing manager at LRA urged members of the community to help in a fight to eradicate invasive aquatic weed that keeps on resurfacing in the dam.
In its efforts to raise much-needed funds that will be used to rehabilitate Lonehill Dam, Lonehill Residents Association (LRA) hosted a jazz picnic on May 29 in Lonehill Park.
Attendants enjoyed great music performances from different local music artists including a well-known
award-winning band, Chilli & Lime music group.

Marketing manager of LRA Shelley Miller thanked their sponsors and members of the community who came in their numbers to support the event. “The weather was glorious, the vibe amazing and we sold all the available tickets and raised some much-needed funds for our Lonehill Dam rehabilitation project.
“We would like to give a big shout-out to our sponsors, without whose generous support we would not have been able to raise the funds we did.”

Miller urged members of the community to help in the fight to eradicate invasive aquatic weed that keeps on resurfacing in the dam.
“This is a long-term project, and we need funds to keep the rehabilitation project going. During winter some of the weeds die off, but they need to be removed so that we can manage the regrowth during the warmer months.

“Residents and visitors who would like to contribute to the ‘Save Our Dam’ project can visit the Lonehill Residents Association website and click on the Enviro Fund application to make a once-off donation or a monthly subscription.”
